Congratulations to the Girls Football team who have become League Champions after a great win in their last game of the season against Park Grove. It was a tremendous achievement for the girls who only started training 8 weeks ago. Some of the players had never played in a football match before and had very little understanding of the rules not to mention tactics!

(Some thought that was a minty sweet!)

However, they knuckled down. With a little guidance, some hard work and words, the season was upon us. They started with a great result against Clifton Federation winning 4-0. This then catapulted us on an unbeaten record of played 4 won 4, goals scored 14, goals conceded 2.

Amelie finished top scorer with 11 out of the 14 goals, the other scorers were Gulce x 2 and 1 to Martha.

This was an exceptional team performance by all the girls, each week showing determination, team spirit, and confidence. They listen well and responded superbly to each game, all giving 100%. They also showed great character and resilience when, falling behind in 2 games, came back to win.

A great coach once said,

“The strength of the team is each individual member...the strength of each member is the team”

This describes the team completely.

Next season we lose a few players but keep a great percentage of the team. With the addition of some new players coming into the squad, I have no doubt we will continue with this resounding success.
