Years 5 and 6 visited Fountains Abbey
to experience life as a Medieval Monk.
Here they are walking in
silence to the Refectory.
The Monks listened to a recital
while they ate in silence.
It was necessary to learn
sign language in order to
ask for bread, salt or water.
The accusation was read out
that someone had spoken
during Silent Time.
