Energy Assembly

The School Council gave an assembly for the whole school to report on the

results of the energy audit and let everyone know what we would be doing in

school to save more energy on a daily basis.

Here are some of the ideas gathered from all the children in school:-

  • Turn off lights when not needed or when the classroom is empty
  • Close doors and windows when it is cold to keep the heat in
  • Use energy saving light bulbs
  • Turn off equipment when it is not being used like computers, smart boards, CD players, projectors and not just leave them on stand by either!

The councillors made some posters to remind everyone what we would be doing.

Rachel Simpson from the Environment Centre gave lots of support and advice as well as helping with the script and performance of a short play featuring the Earth, the Sun, the Sun's rays, humans, a power station and carbon dioxide. This was to help everyone understand 'The Greenhouse Effect'.

The Assembly was called "Every Little Helps".     Can you think why?
